River Trip - Saturday 12th Jan. "Wharf"

Hi All,

I am hoping to run a river trip this coming weekend. Open to all those who have previously been on River Trips with me.

I hope to paddle the Wharf, from Burnsall to Barden Bridge, however this has yet to be confirmed.

Either way, it will be a 9.30 start at the get on point

Please ring me (07971 141579) or email me (Richard.Clapham@Senstronics.com ; Richard.Clapham@btinternet.com ) this week to confirm numbers.

This is gd 1-3 water, and we get out a long way before the "Strid"!

I would expect to be on our way home by 3.30pm

Cheers

Richard

Hi All,

Only 4 of us on the river trip, Matty, Andy M, Scott and Myself. But it was a good one.

The river section itself is not too long so there was plenty of time to practice ferry gliding, and breaking in and out.

Appletreewick Falls was at a nice level, although it only goes to highlight how inspection is important, as the usual river left looked "interesting", tight river right, at the bottom, was the order of the day.

There were 2 swims, Matty and Andy, but also a good sense of achievement from all as nobody swam in the main falls section.

PS managed to do a back dip, going into the main current, and got my G3 3/4s of the way out of the water and totally vertical.

Thanks to those who joined me, i'm sure we will run that trip again soon.

Richard

We thought about you all on the water - it was a lovely sunny day here but even that didn't make me want to swim!

I would have liked to practice the ferry gliding and breaking in and out... maybe next time! There just isn't time to do everything...

Thanks Richard (& Scott)

It was a really good trip - from my point of view quite testing and exciting but not too scary! I was pleased Matty came along too as it was the first time I'd paddled with him and I felt I got to know another member of the club. We even discovered we had a common female acquaintance (Now that's got you guessing!).

Any way, a great day out and what's more I still head the swim leader board!
